Today represented the cap to a lot of preparation and anticipation of the donation from third graders at Founders School in Essex, Vermont to the students in a rural Chiapas-area (the poorest of the 32 Mexican states) school outside the town of San Cristobal de las Casas in Mexico. I was joined by Roselena, my Mexican friend. Our driver led us up a winding road into a small town where we picked up an indigenous lady from a non-descript shop along the town’s main plaza. “Juanita” joined us to introduce us at the school, Melchor Ocampo. This school has 450 children in grades 1-6. Here are the first photos of the school itself: the exterior of the school and the playground.
